About us Photo

DCNitelife.com had the pleasure of speaking with two dynamic women who are making strides in the DC Metropolitan area and are well on their way to occupying the world.  Nicole Nikki Woodland and Chimera Thompson are the dynamic duo of W.O.W Entertainment, LLC, a new full-scale event marketing and promotions company based out of the nation’s capital.  What sets the ladies of W.O.W apart from other event planners is their refreshing approach to entertainment and marketing, and their mission to provide fun, first-class party experiences for a diverse mix of people in the DMV area and beyond.

If you have ever been to a W.O.W party, you know that no two events are the same.  Since the beginning of the company’s inception, W.O.W — which stands for We Occupy the World — embarked on a mission to bring upscale, one-of-a-kind party experiences to urban professionals, and to ensure that all of its events have that WOW factor.   W.O.W co-founders, Chimera and Nicole, accomplish this by offering unique events, such as their launch party, which was a pool party & bikini fashion show that featured the designs of a celebrity designer, Stacey Angela, and America’s Next Top Model Cycle 9’s, Bianca Golden, as a guest model.

Both ladies agree that the three elements that are crucial for any successful event are 1) good music, 2) a good crowd, and 3) good marketing.  Among the three, an effective marketing strategy is the most important, and both ladies stressed the importance of leveraging all aspects of social media as marketing tools.

For those who are aspiring event planners, Chimera and Nicole offer the following words of wisdom:

Nicole:  You have to have the will and drive, and you really need to be dedicated and committed.  A lot of people will tell you no, but do not listen to that.  Just push through any negativity or people who are not trying to help you.  Definitely being creative is key, and  being detailed oriented.

Chimera:  Be flexible, and keep pushing through any adversity and don’t be discouraged.  Expect that people are going to want to see you prove yourself before they want to sponsor or partner with you.  Be prepared to always put your best foot forward with every event, because people are watching, and the second they see that you are doing a good job, they will want to be a part of what you are doing.

You can catch the ladies of W.O.W at their next event, A Halloween Affair, which will be a Masquerade Fashion Show and Costume Party at Cru, 1847 Columbia Rd., NW in Adams Morgan on October 31st from 8pm to 2am.  It is also the official launch party for Blockz Mayhem, a fashion magazine spin-off of the award-winning hip-hop magazine, Blockz Magazine.   The Masquerade Fashion show will feature the designs of several local emerging designers, including Kiara C. Morrow and Kichella Karoar.  Sponsors include:  A Taste of Jamaica, Stay by Stacey Angela accessories, Cazal Eyewear, Charlee’s Butter Cream Dreams, Embellish Hair Studio, The Shoe Asylum, Playful Faces, Ace of Face, Mimi’s Homemade Deserts, Vivo Masks and CKR Tax Services.   WPGC 95.5’s DJ Chris Styles will be spinning at the event, along with DJ 100.   Proceeds from the event will be donated to a local charity, Girls Inc. of the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area.

W.O.W. intends to expand their brand by bringing entertainment events across the country.  They also intend to expand internationally to exotic locations, such as Cabo, and Aruba.
