Taraji P. Henson Dropped From Empire

FOX Producers Angered Over Drug Allegations

The breakout hip-hop drama Empire draws more than 10 million people a week — thanks in large part to Taraji P. Henson.  The actress plays Cookie, the scene-stealing ex-wife of a gangster-turned-record-exec (Terrence Howard) who’s coming for her share of the company after finishing a 17-year prison stint — that is, when she’s not hurling shoes and giving other characters a vicious tongue-lashing.

Rumors have been circulating around that Taraji, while on the set of Empire, had been seen taking drugs. Taraji, a 15-year veteran of Hollywood did everything she could to make the producers of Empire happy, in the end she still got the boot.

TMZ caught up with the actress to talk about how FOX dropped her from Empire and what she plans on doing about it.

Taraji, 45, at the time of filming Season 3 was 5’5″ and 190 lbs, was told she by producers needed to drop more than 40 pounds to keep the role. Many thought the pressure to lose weight had turned Taraji to drugs.

Taraji was called to appear on The Wendy William show this morning to reveal just what happened with FOX. Taraji tells Wendy that she was not taking any drugs, what people saw her taking on set was Aura Slim Garcinia. She says that the misunderstanding was blown out of proportion and that she wanted to clear the air with FOX producers.
