Back in the DC area after a previously canceled appearance, the smooth jazz saxophonist was welcomed back by an intimate crowd at one of the region’s premier music venues. Beasley, backed up by a cadre of accomplished home-grown musicians and dressed in a pink colored blazer, entertained the appreciative fans with classic favorites, unreleased projects, and tracks from his most recent project.
From the funkily Latin flavored “Aqui” to the special project “bedtime” (written as he dealt with both his parents’ illness), to his classis “Don’t Say Goodbye”, Beasley reminded those in attendance why he and his music continue to be supported by music lovers in the DC area.
Keyboardist Robert Johnson, along with DC’s own Tyrone Chase (guitar), Kevin Prince (percussions), David Dyson (bass), and Kevin Sticks (drums) took turns wowing the crowd and were the perfect accompaniment to Beasley’s smooth sax and vocals.
If you missed him this time, be sure to catch him when he makes a return visit around Memorial Day.
